"What appeals to me in photographing humans is trying to bring out characteristics that are not tangible. Their intensity, vulnerability, darkness, strength, and so forth." - Dennys Ilic
"Facets that are not easily definable with technical knowledge. There are, however, many aspects of the Leica SL2 and Leica optics that help me highlight such attributes in my subjects and to help me achieve the look that I want. The dynamic range and sensitivity of the sensor are second to none with the file size to rival medium format cameras. Yet the SL2 is still fast, nimble, and unobtrusive to work with. From the point of capture to post-production, you feel like an artist working with the world’s finest oils and canvas that feeds back to you as a photographer and plays into the quality of the final image.
I've been working with Drew Scott (@mrdrewscott) for over 10 years. Whether it's a result of his personal taste or the fact that he is an extraordinarily kind, bright, and positive person doing good in the world while being extremely successful, I don't think I’ve ever seen him dressed in dark colors, so obviously it was time to shoot him in a completely blacked-out studio wearing black leather with a single light source. I wanted no distractions from that intensity that makes up this intriguing and complex human.”
